If you've been waiting to hear what's happening at the end of Sunset Boulevard, the wait is officially over. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios on Memorial Day weekend 2026, and we now have the full storyline, the complete setlist, the celebrity cameo list, and confirmed Disney World resort perks.
This is one of the most-anticipated reimaginings of the year. As Disney Earmarked Silver certified travel agents, we've been tracking every detail so you don't have to. Here's everything you need to know and exactly how to plan a trip around it.
When Does Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Open?
Official opening date: Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
The reimagined attraction welcomes guests starting May 26 as part of the Cool Kids' Summer kickoff at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The original Aerosmith version of the ride closed on March 1, 2026 to begin the transformation. Construction walls came down in early May, fully revealing the new courtyard and the redesigned guitar marquee.
Before the public opening, Disney is hosting previews for cast members, eligible Disney Vacation Club Members, and Annual Passholders on select dates in May. If you're a DVC member or AP, keep an eye on your email. Registration for the earliest cast member and Disney employee previews opened on May 6.
The New Storyline: G-Force Records Has New Management
The reimagined ride keeps the bones of the original. You're still at G-Force Records. You're still racing across Hollywood in a stretch limo. You're still launching from 0 to 60 in just under three seconds. But the story has been completely rewritten for The Muppets.
Here's the new setup: G-Force Records has come under new management. The legendary Hollywood label has been bought by Scooter's uncle, real estate tycoon and owner of the Muppet Theatre, J.P. Grosse. The Electric Mayhem (Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot, and Lips) has moved into the studio and is rehearsing for their biggest concert ever.
There's just one problem: the show starts soon, the band is still jamming in the studio, and the audience is across town getting restless. That's where you come in. Scooter and a team of penguin audio engineers (yes, really) need a VIP limo to rush the band across Hollywood and you're along for the ride.
The result is a twisting, screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood, powered by Muppet Labs and set to a brand-new rock concert soundtrack.
The Full Setlist for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
This is the announcement everyone was waiting for. On Thursday, April 16, Disney revealed the five songs the Electric Mayhem will play as they race to their biggest Hollywood concert ever. Just like the original, you'll hear one randomly selected track per ride, so every limo trip feels a little different.
Here's the official setlist:
Born To Be Wild - The Electric Mayhem ft. Camilla the Chicken
Love Rollercoaster - The Electric Mayhem ft. Jennifer Hudson and Questlove
Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop) - The Electric Mayhem ft. Def Leppard
Walking on Sunshine - The Electric Mayhem ft. Kelly Clarkson
Song 2 - The Electric Mayhem (the iconic "woo-hoo" anthem by Blur)
And the encore: at the end of the attraction, the Electric Mayhem performs their classic "Can You Picture That?" first introduced in 1979's The Muppet Movie in the post-show before you exit through the gift shop. Disney has also teased that the band has been working on bonus tracks, so don't be surprised if more music surfaces after opening.
Celebrity Cameos in the Queue
The queue alone is worth showing up early for. As you wind through G-Force Records, the walls are covered in posters from the Electric Mayhem's "legendary career" and the celebrity cameos are stacked.
Watch for appearances from Awkwafina, Danny Trejo, Darren Criss, John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, Travis Barker, Yvette Nicole Brown, Wayne Brady, and "Weird Al" Yankovic. There are also rumored Easter eggs and salvaged props from the now-closed MuppetVision 3D scattered throughout the queue and a thoughtful nod from Imagineering for longtime Muppets fans.
And in a first for the attraction, the pre-show features the very first Audio-Animatronics figure of Scooter alongside those penguin audio engineers we mentioned. That's a meaningful upgrade. The original ride relied entirely on video pre-shows.
What's Different vs. the Aerosmith Version?
Good news for thrill-seekers: the ride itself has not changed. Same launch. Same inversions. Same indoor coaster experience that has been a Hollywood Studios staple for over 25 years.
What has changed:
The exterior. The 40-foot Fender Stratocaster guitar has been completely repainted in a psychedelic Electric Mayhem color scheme inspired by The Muppets' classic painted car.
The building. Refinished in dark grey to make the new neon marquee pop.
The pre-show. New storyline featuring Scooter, Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the penguins.
The soundtrack. Five new tracks plus a post-show finale.
The queue. Muppet-themed props, Electric Mayhem posters, and celebrity cameos.
The post-show. Electric Mayhem performance instead of Aerosmith concert footage.
The track layout, ride vehicles, and physical experience are identical. If you loved the speed and intensity of the original, you'll love this version too.
